Luna moth eggs are laid on tree leaves, including the sweetgum, where the caterpillars will have plenty to eat and little competition. After molting several times, the caterpillar creates a cocoon, from which the adult Luna moth emerges, ready to dry its wings and flutter into the night.

Size and Color: The Luna moth caterpillar shows off its camouflage, confusing predators by blending with its leafy home. The adult moth figure is 7.6 cm from wingtip to wingtip.
