Baron Manfred von Richthofen and his red Fokker triplane made history in the First World War. The Dr. 1 was the most maneuverable of all aircraft used and achieved high climb speeds. The Dr. 1s, delivered to the troops in June 1917, were withdrawn from the front at the end of 1917, but Richthofen continued to fly them until April 1918.
