The F/A-18E/F is a multirole fighter-bomber aircraft developed by Boeing and classified as a 4.5th generation jet fighter. The E type has a single seat, and the F type is a double-seat type. Following the discontinuation of the development of the A-12 (Avenger II), the U.S. Navy completely redesigned the existing F/A-18 (AD type) basic design to develop the F/A-18E/F. Design changes have been made to improve its cruising range and weapon loading capacity, upsizing of the aircraft, and stealth. Its nickname has been is the "Super Hornet".
